Dr. Aleksandar Matic is a researcher at CREATE NET research center. His research interests include ubiquitous and mobile computing, context-aware systems, pervasive healthcare, and social computing. Dr. Matic's research focuses on automatic sensing and analysis of human behaviour, to support mainly health and wellbeing applications. Special emphasis of his work is placed on privacy preserving approaches and the use of technologies already adopted by users, thus minimally affecting individuals' routines and behaviour. He served as a reviewer for a number of ubiquitous computing related conferences and journals while also participated as a guest editor of special issues of several journals. Dr. Matic established the MindCare Workshop, on pervasive computing paradigms for maintaining and improving mental health, which is now being organized on yearly basis. Dr. Matic obtained his PhD degree in Telecommunications from the University of Trento (Italy), with the thesis entitled Sensing Social Interactions Using Non-Visual and Non-Auditory Mobile Sources, Maximizing Privacy and Minimizing Obtrusiveness. He holds MSc degree in Telecommunications from the School of Electrical Engineering, the University of Belgrade, Serbia. As a co-chair of the Innovation Academy Council, Dr. Matic is responsible for coordinating the academy's affairs and the related committees, whose mission is to recognize innovative contributions in research and practice. He is also on the editorial board of the Innovation Academy Magazine. Besides, he has a 5 year long experience in media, working as a TV host on two of the main national Serbian TV stations B92 and Prva (former FOX).
